Chen Yiming, younger brother of the noted Chinese painter Chen Yifei, was born in Shanghai in December of 1951. His best-known paintings are of women who wear the traditional attire of China. He has also painted figures and flowers, and incorporated traditional Chinese artifacts such as fans and musical instruments into his works. As a realist, Chen Yiming is able to powerfully evoke the atmosphere and settings of Old Shanghai.
Chen Yiming originally studied at Shanghai Fine Art School and Shanghai Drama College. He has lived in the United States for many years and has enjoyed numerous solo exhibitions throughout the United States and China.
